Start with the whole shot
Watch a permitted non-graphic output at normal speed before pausing it. Note whether the movement has an understandable start and end. A technically sharp frame can sit inside a sequence with abrupt pacing, a sudden object change or an unfinished ending.
Write the intended observation before playback. For example: the background edge should remain in a stable position while the foreground moves. This is narrower and more testable than asking whether the shot looks professional.
Inspect boundaries and transitions
Pause at the opening, a middle point and the ending. Compare visible edges, lighting direction and the number of objects. Then examine a few neighboring frames around any defect. A momentary distortion and a persistent change deserve different notes.
Do not choose only the most flattering frame. If a sequence briefly contains a warped object, that issue may still affect normal playback. Keep a neutral time marker in the record so another reviewer can find the same observation.
Use a defect log rather than a vague score
Group findings by continuity, composition, motion and export. Continuity concerns whether details stay coherent. Composition concerns the frame. Motion concerns pacing and transitions. Export concerns the file that actually downloads. A single overall score can hide these differences.
If a defect is cosmetic and acceptable for the intended ordinary use, explain why. If it changes the meaning of the scene, mark it as a rejection. The acceptance threshold should stay fixed across attempts.
Review the delivered file
Open the downloaded file rather than relying only on the browser preview. Check its duration, playback and framing. A familiar file extension does not prove that every target player will display it correctly.
Record whether a second attempt was necessary. An output review and a cost review connect at the rejected attempt: spending again does not erase the first result from the record.
A practical record
| Check | Concrete observation |
|---|---|
| Continuity | A marked detail remains stable across adjacent frames |
| Pacing | Movement has an understandable beginning and ending |
| Delivery | The downloaded file plays in the intended viewer |
Describe the complete shot in observable terms. Do not turn an attractive selected frame into an unsupported service benchmark.
